The origin of Wear Orange was inspired by friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago high school student killed by gunfire, who decided to honor her life by wearing orange - the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. The Wear Orange movement inspired by bold and creative teens who refused to be silent in the face of daily gun violence reached 220 million people in just one day in 2015. What started with a small group of friends on the Southside of Chicago has turned into a nationwide movement to honor the lives cut short by gun violence and hundreds more injured every day. So, Wear Orange on June 2nd, to honor those who have lost their lives to gun violence and to bring awareness to gun safety in Baltimore and around the Nation.
There are hundreds of Orange Events happening across the country on June 2nd and every event is going to take photos that will be posted to the State and National Wear Orange face book pages. So, don't forget to take your pictures and TWEET,
